I have thought about making a bucket list for all the things I want to do in my life, but seeing that animals are so important to me and play such an important role in my life I will compile a separate bucket list relating only to animals.
My animal bucket list:
My animal bucket list:
1. Finish my BVSc degree
2. Open my own practice somewhere in my life.
3. Travel the world and work as a veterinarian in many different countries with different types of animals.
4. Try and get the SPCA not to euthanise stray cats and dogs, but to improve their ways of getting funds and getting people to adopt animals.
I have so much respect for the people at Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre. They are a "Right to life" organisation (situated about 40 kilometres outside Pretoria) who always try their best to help animals - be it strays, unwanted, hurt or neglected animals. They only euthanize when there is no other option. I have been there twice with friends to walk the dogs. There are about 300 dogs, a couple of cats, donkeys and horses.
Enjoying a walk with a Wetnose dog.
5. Help organisations like Wetnose by sterilising animals and by performing surgeries for free. They only provide the medicine etc. This way there will be more money to buy food.
6. Go into townships and into farming communities to sterilise animals for free. I believe this will have a much bigger impact as at that moment, because fewer animals will be born and therefore fewer will be strays.
7. I want to start a place with many different farm animals and pets where disadvanaged children and children from orphanages can stay during holidays. They can care for the animals eg. milk-, feed- or wash them, walk the dogs, ride the horses or just be with the animals. :)
I will add more as they come up...
